Phillies GM Ruben Amaro, Jr. hinted the move was likely after Sunday’s debacle. He made it official Monday when the team placed injured starter Roy Halladay on the 15-day disabled list.
Halladay, who expressed discomfort in his throwing shoulder Sunday, is 2-4 with an 8.65 ERA through seven starts in 2013. He has surrendered 17 earned runs in his last six innings of work, both resulting in 14-2 defeats.
The Phillies are in San Francisco this week as part of a West Coast swing. Halladay was scheduled to see a specialist in Los Angeles.
I felt good all spring. I had soreness in there and just wasn’t able to get rid of it,” Halladay told reporters Sunday.
Joe Savery was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his spot.
