The Eagles, according to various sources, have no meeting in the books with head coaches for the rest of the week.
That means there is a good chance their next skipper will come from the six men who’ve interviewed already.
Here’s a brief overview of the resumes of the maincontenders to be the Eagles’ 23rd head coach:
Tom Coughlin:Former Giants and Jaguars head coach. Two-time Super Bowl Champion with the Giants. Stepped down in New York after 2015 finale. Has gone 169-146 in his career as head coach.
Doug Pederson:Former Eagles quarterback (1999) and quarterbacks coach (2011-12.) Followed Andy Reid to Kansas City, where he serves as the offensive coordinator.
Ben McAdoo:Giants offensive coordinator the past two seasons under Coughlin. Green Bay quarterbacks coach from 2012 to 2013.
Duce Staley:Eagles running back (1997-2003.) Running backs coach for the Eagles since 2013. Won Super Bowl 40 as a player with the Steelers.
Pat Shurmur:Eagles quarterbacks coach (2002-2008,) offensive coordinator (2013-2015,) and interim head coach following Chip Kelly’s dismissal. Cleveland Browns’ head coach from 2011 to 2012. Has a 10-23 career record as a head coach. Adam Gase: Broncos offensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014 and Bears offensive coordinator in 2015. Hired as head coach by the Miami Dolphins.
