Free movies at Brooklyn Bridge Park now come with beer and wine

Brooklyn Bridge Park is already one of our favorite places to catch a free outdoor movie in the summer, and it just got a perk no other park has.

When Movies With a View returns to the Harbor View Lawn on July 6, it’ll be accompanied by Warsteiner beer and Oak Beverages wines available for purchase at each screening. Drinking is prohibited in NYC parks, so this is your one legal option to feel the buzz while enjoying an outdoor movie.

In case you’re thinking “Whatever, I’ve been enjoying myself just fine for years,” prepare to have your bag searched on entry to keep out unauthorized bottles.

Along with the new wine and beer options comes a new outdoor market curated by Brooklyn’s hot new food hall DeKalb Market, bringing German-style kebabs from Kotti Doner, Steve’s Key Lime Pie, Foragers Sandwiches and the Cake Pop Shop to the DUMBO park.

All vendors will be stationed on Granite Prospect next to the lawn, and more may be added later in the summer.

The theme for this year’s eight-week-long Thursday night film series is Resistance, with movies tackling issues of race, gender and protest. Each night begins with DJs from Brooklyn Radio spinning 5 p.m., plus a short movie curated by BAMcinématek before the evening’s featured presentation at sundown (around 8 p.m.)

You can also stargaze with the Amateur Astronomer’s Association, and Transportation Alternatives will once again be providing free bike valet parking.
