This afternoon, U. S. Customs and Border Protection officers announced they discovered cocaine hidden within a refrigerated container at the Red Hook Container Terminal in Brooklyn last week.
The discovery was made last Monday, May 7, while officers were conducting a routine inspection with the U.S. Homeland Security Department. They searched through containers destined for Antwerp, Belgium. While examining a refrigeration unit, officials discovered 11 brick-shaped objects concealed within the container.
After testing them, the packages tested positive for cocaine — approximately 25 pounds of it.
This case is still under investigation and no arrests have been made yet.
