90 impaired charges laid at checkstops

Almost 100 Alberta motorists have been charged with impaired driving in checkstops over the past four months.

Edmonton police, RCMP and Alberta Sheriffs have worked together since December, and have pulled over almost 16,000 vehicles at random checkstop locations.

Of those pulled over, 90 were charged with impaired driving, 148 were given 24-hour suspensions, 145 vehicles were impounded, 28 warrants were executed and two people refused to provide a sample.
