Police are looking for two female robbery suspects in what they are calling a cowardly act that left an elderly woman in hospital.
Insp. Rob Williams said a 92-year-old woman was walking in Southcentre Mall parking lot around 9:30 a.m. when two women tried to grab her purse. When they couldn’t get it, they pushed her to the ground and started punching and kicking her.
“It is pretty serious injuries so we’re not just calling this a purse snatching, this was a robbery,” Williams said, adding the woman suffered serious injuries, including a broken pelvis or fractured hip.
The two suspects fled in a small blue Honda Civic-type car, Williams added.
Police are looking for two women between 20 and 25 years old, one with a small build, the other with a heavier build.
