A daring save by NYPD cop

An NYPD cop dangled from a helicopter to save two West Point cadets Sunday, successfully pulling them from a mountain ledge. NYPD pilot Steve Browning said flying in high winds and darkness to pluck the cadets was the “most dangerous thing” he’s done in his career. Detective and Long Islander Christopher Condon said he was spinning while trying to reach the two freshmen, who’d gone rappelling alone and are now in a hospital, recovering from hypothermia.
