Turns out she won’t be saying “hello” from the outside after all.

Adele set the record straight last weekend during her Staples Center concert in L.A., telling audience members, “First of all, I’m not doing the Super Bowl. I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don’t really … I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no.”

However, the NFL and Haltime Show sponsor Pepsi have both officially denied asking Adele to perform, going as far to release a joint statement noting: “The NFL and Pepsi are big fans of Adele. We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show. However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else.”

Shade.

Rumors that Adele would follow in the footsteps of Bruno Mars, Beyonce and Katy Perry first started last week when UK tabloid The Sun reported that the singer had been asked, but was wary of accepting.
