Alderman eyes tunnel cash shuffle

There is light at the end of the airport tunnel, according to a Calgary alderman.

Ward 3 Ald. Jim Stevenson plans to take advantage of a report coming to council today from the city’s transportation head, Mac Logan, and plans to make an amendment that would allow council to take money from two other infrastructure projects and put it towards, what Stevenson calls, a much-needed airport tunnel.

“It makes sense because those projects aren’t ready to go yet and the airport tunnel is a high priority. We can take the $150 million we need and put it back later,” Stevenson said.

He admits he may have a tough-go at council today.

“People get nervous about shuffling money from projects, but I’m hopeful.”
