Old Strathcona’s window displays will get a boost this holiday season with Return of the Magic, launching Dec. 1.
The animatronics displays have been recovered from various distributers and carefully refurbished to work like new again.
Nine businesses have agreed to the displays from 99 Street to 109 Street along Whyte Avenue.
“We expect up to a million visits to this during the seven to eight weeks it will be up,” said Shirley Lowe, Executive Director of the Old Strathcona Business Association.
“There are at least three generations now that remember this, and two generations that have never seen it. You look at it and you get intrigued.”
The displays include various environments with bears, dolls, and elves and are the product of the hard work and creative skills of Tim Moore, artistic director, and his wife Denise Moore.
Denise costumed the characters and is involved in all aspects of design and display.
