In the aftermath of the election, many of us are looking for ways to both distract and motivate ourselves. Some upset by Tuesday’s results have already taken action, protesting throughout the city; others have opted to lay low and practice self-care. While inaction could have devastating consequences in the long run, this early into doomsday it’s OK to go at your own pace.

While you’re meditating on your next move, here’s a low-key, uplifting way to spend the weekend: visit the Brooklyn Museum, which isoffering free admission Saturday and Sunday.

A statement on the museum website reads, “Right now, as people search for a sense of national unity…. we hope that visitors will explore the Museum as a great and timely learning resource, especially our newly installed American Art galleries, which embrace an inclusive view of history and recognize the shifting demographics of our richly diverse country.”

The free admission also permits entry to special exhibits, such as “A Year of Yes,” the year-long program of feminist art from Judy Chicago’s “The Dinner Party” to the newest addition,Marilyn Minter’s “Pretty/Dirty,”a multi-media look at the beauty industry’s effect on women. There’s also “Who Shot Sports?” a photography exhibit of moments in sports history from 1843 to the present.

Pair your museum trip with a walk through Prospect Park, which has stellar foliage right now, and we bet you’ll feel some relief.
