Lawrence Police and fire officials are investigating a fire they believe was intentionally set at a crowded nightclub Sunday night.

More than 100 people were the Attika Club at the time of the incident after 8 p.m., authorities said. Employees quickly snuffed out the flames and no one was injured.

But it happened just two days after dozens of people died during a raging fire at a converted warehouse in Oakland, Calif., over the weekend. The warehouse space was being illegally used to host a dance party.

In Sunday’s incident in Lawrence, video surveillance captured a motorist drive up to the rear of the nightclub, exit the vehicle and splash a flammable liquid around the building. The person then can be seen starting the fire, WHDH reported. The car had New Jersey license plates, according to the station.

The back wall of the building was charred, but there was no serious damage reported.

In the Oakland blaze on Friday, 36 people were confirmed dead, CNN reported, but authorities warned the death toll could rise as emergency responders continue to search through the rubble of the collapsed warehouse.
