A recent Back Bay drag-racing crash has authorities putting more safety measures into place to curtail dangerous driving.

Besides patrolling Beacon Street, the site of a weekend drag-racing wreck that left one man injured as police seek two people who fled the scene, officials said the city also will install a digital speed board, WCVB reported.

Fast drivers have been a persistent problem on that stretch of Beacon Street, WHDH added, also stating that police have now considered traffic changes to combat the problem.

“It’s just very unfortunate. You see people go through the intersections all the time, and definitely at very high rates of speed on what should otherwise be a fairly residential area,” Elizabeth Crowley, a Beacon Street resident, said to WBZ.

Police are actively patrolling that area, according to WCVB, in pursuit of speedy drivers and any information on the two men seen fleeing the scene of Saturday’s drag-racing crash.

The crash involved a Bentley that jumped the curb and struck a man who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, WBZ added. The driver and passenger got into a BMW they were apparently racing, fled toward Storrow Drive and remain at large.
