Baggage issues put damper on family reunion

A family reunion in Toney River was soured after three people spent the majority of their visit waiting for their luggage.

Jill Erickson flew from Wichita, Kansas, to Chicago last week where her United Airlines flight to Halifax was cancelled.

A spokesperson for United told a Chicago newspaper the cancellation was due to fog in Halifax.

Erickson was booked onto an Air Canada flight and she made it to Halifax, but her bags didn’t.

“I bought one $5 shirt when I came into Halifax and I borrowed a pair of shorts from my grandmother,” she said on Thursday

“I had the clothes on my back. It wasn’t appropriate, but at least somewhat OK.”

Two other family members, Robert and Candace Simpson from Salt Lake City, had the same problem.

Erickson got her luggage on Wednesday, just in time for her return flight on Friday.
