Albeit only a formality at this point, Jamie Baillie will officially be made leader of Nova Scotia’s Progressive Conservative party this weekend.
The party will host its leadership convention at the Cunard Centre. Speakers include Defence Minister Peter MacKay, Prince Edward Island Progressive Conservative Leader Olive Crane and newly elected New Brunswick Premier David Alward.
MacKay, Crane and Alward will address the crowd on Friday night, in what is being billed as “a celebration of leadership.”
While Baillie is the only candidate for leadership, he defended the necessity for the convention last month, saying it will be as much about policy as it is about voting in a new leader.
Fresh off a byelection victory in Cumberland-South, Baillie will be voted in on Saturday morning following a panel discussion on the economy featuring businessman Bill Black, Atlantic Institute of Market Studies VP Dianne Kelderman, Odgers-Berndston consultant Maureen Miller, and author Peter Moreira.
