“Love Rehab” author Jo Piazza seems to have all the answers on how to bounce back from a breakup – or at least 12 steps to help get started. In her first novel, the former gossip columnist tells the story of a group of women – and a few token dudes – who put themselves through love rehab, a 12-step program for love addicts. In the spirit of recovery and self-betterment, this New Yorker shared with us her favorite local haunts for mending a broken heart.

When you want…

A night of heavy drinking

When you need a bar where no one is going to know, much less remember your name, head to Doc Holliday’s on a Tuesday night and indulge in one of their all-you-can-drink specials while crooning to Johnny Cash into your Bud Light.
141 Avenue A, 212-979-0312

Sappy movies

On demand movies, Task Rabbit and blackout shades have given us the luxury of being able to drink away our sorrows in the comfort of our living room while watching When Harry Met Sally on repeat. Try heading to the Film Forum all by your lonesome, in order to sit in a dark room with a lot of crabby octogenarians who also just want to be by themselves, in a room filled with strangers.
209 West Houston St., 212-727-8110

To eat your feelings

If you need to have some wine with your whine… and maybe cheese too, head to The Bourgeois Pig for savory fondue, piggy cheese plates, cushy chairs and one of the most finely curated wine selections in the city. One bite of the chèvre et chocolat and you’ll fully understand the meaning of a winning combination.
111 E 7th St., 212-475-2246

To hook up

Ready to rebound? If a good-looking, fun-loving crowd is what you need, head to Mondrian Soho’s chic open-through-October rooftop bar, Soaked. The crowd promises to provide a No Strings Attached night of fun. And, at the very least, the vodka lemonade and sounds of Daft Punk will cheer you up.
Reservations required. 150 Lafayette St., 212-389-1000

Some TLC

Couples aren’t the only ones who deserve some TLC. Hudson’s latest offering is a “SingleMoon” package: Newly single guests get hooked up with a massage from Equinox, a free three-month subscription to HowAboutWe to get back on the dating saddle, a copy of “Modern Dating: A Field Guide” by HowAboutWe’s resident dating expert Chiara Atik to get it right and two complimentary drinks to drown your sorrows (or make new friends). Starting at $209/night. 356 W. 58th St., 212-554-6000
