Usain Bolt has nothing against Philadelphia, he just can’t stand the cold.
So, instead of taking in the city’s sights and sounds last weekend, the world’s fastest man stayed in his hotel room, scanning Facebook and listening to music on his laptop.
“It’s cold, I’m not going out there,” Bolt said.
Of course, Bolt did venture onto the track Saturday at Franklin Field, running the anchor leg in the USA vs. the World 4×100. His Jamaican relay team won in a carnival-record time of 37.9 seconds.
“There’s nothing like a home crowd for me,” Bolt said. “I love running here.”
Bolt, who usually commands six figures per appearance, even waived his fee and competed for free.
“I told my coach, we decided we really needed to come to the Penn Relays this year,” Bolt said.
