A Cambridge office complex shooting left one person injured before the gunman allegedly committed suicide in the parking lot.

The office of health care company Senior Whole Health at Charles and Third streets was the scene of the shooting, which occurred around 7:46 a.m. Thursday, CBS Boston reported. Cambridge police stated that a former employee returned to the office complex and opened fire outside a building.

The gunman stood in the parking lot and shot several times, witnesses and police told the Boston Globe, which added that one man inside the cluster of buildings sustained nonlife-threatening injuries and was taken for treatment at Mount Auburn Hospital.

The shooter was identified asa 70-year-old man from Framingham,Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office reported in a statement.

“It was a former employee who did shoot at a co-worker,’’ Cambridge Police spokesman Jeremy Warnick said to the Globe.

The shooter had allegedly been waiting for the victim,a 58-year-old Cambridge man, to arrive, CBS Boston reported, adding that the suspect committed suicide in the incident.

Authorities on the scene had recovered body armor near where the shooting took place as they continued their investigation in the parking lot, according to the Globe.

The immediate area was closed to traffic because of the ongoing investigation, DA Ryan’s office reported.
