Boston police issue alert on Roxbury, Dorchester car break-ins

A string of Thursday morning car break-ins in Roxbury and Dorchester has police telling residents to be sure to remove valuables from plain sight and to keep their cars locked.

Boston police were investigating the car break-ins, at least 10 in the areas of Magnolia, Greenheys, East Cottage, Clifton and Holden streets, that occurred in the early morning hours on Thursday, police said.

Authorities reported that victims said their vehicles’ windows had been smashed and their property was scattered inside their cars.

After the break-ins, the BPD has reminded residents that break-ins are a crime of opportunity and not to leave any personal property exposed, including cellphones, GPS devices or loose change.
