Dave Dombrowskihas wasted little time in acquiring a starting pitcher as the Sox’ boss landed lefty Drew Pomeranz from the Padres in a Thursday trade.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that the Sox gave up “one of their better prospects” to land the 27-year-old. The Ole Miss product and Collierville, Tennessee native owns an 8-7 record and a 2.47 ERA this season with 115 strikeouts and a 1.06 WHIP. He has been hot of late as he’s given up just one earned run in his last three starts. The lefty pitched a scoreless inning for the National League in his first All-Star game appearance on Tuesday night.
He pitched with Colorado from 2011-13 and with Oakland from 2014-15.
