Bow grows again

The newly expanded Bow Valley College will act as a hub for the downtown community, said Sharon Carry, BVC president and CEO.

The grand reopening of BVC and the donor square unveiling occurred yesterday afternoon at the North campus in front of MLAs, students, staff and alumni.

The campus renovation could not come at a better time, according to Scott Thon, board of governors chair. Spring enrolment at BVC has seen a 25 per cent increase in the past year.

“We are bursting at the seams,” he said.

As Calgary’s only vocational college, BVC is producing grads ready to join the workforce, said Carry.

“This really is going to be a gateway to learning in the heart of our community.”

Alumni Corey McKeown, his “whole career changed direction and expanded after one year at BVC.” The new developments will help future students have a positive experience similar to his, he said.

The facility is located at 332 – 6 Ave. SE.
