Brothers arraigned in quarry killing case

The next time they appear in court, the three people charged in the killing of Dillon Blair Jewett should be together.

Kyle Brian Gowen, 22, and Steven Shuan Gowen, 21, both of Eastern Passage, were arraigned yesterday on charges of first-degree murder in the death of Jewett, an 18-year-old Dartmouth teen found shot to death near the East Uniacke Quarry on Oct. 3.

Kyle and Steven Gowen were charged over the weekend and made a brief appearance at Truro provincial court yesterday.

The judge ordered the two brothers back in court Nov. 25 in Shubenacadie, the same day Amanda Allison Greene, an 18-year-old from Cow Bay and ex-girlfriend of the victim, is scheduled to appear.

Greene, who according to Facebook is in a relationship with Kyle Gowen, was arrested and charged last week with first-degree murder in Jewett’s death. Steven Gowen also faces a charge of accessory to murder in relation to the case.

Crown attorney Alison Brown said joint information is expected to be sworn in on Nov. 25, alleging the three acted together in planning and committing the murder.
