Celtics snap six-game losing skid, take down Hawks on the road

Things were looking eerily similar to the past few losses, playing well in the first half and then letting the game slip away in the third quarter as the Celtics trailed the Hawks by just four at the half, but then were outscored 21-15 in the third quarter. Fortunately for the Celtics, they responded by outscoring the Hawks 30-13 in the fourth quarter to earn a 94-87 road win in Atlanta Saturday night. The win snapped a six-game losing streak.

All five Celtics starters were in double figures in points and had six players total. Brandon Bass led the way with 17 points, followed by Jeff Green who had 16. Jordan Crawford had a solid game finishing with 12 points and dishing out 10 assists. Vitor Faverani had a good game off the bench recording 11 points and five rebounds in 14 minutes.

The Hawks were led by Al Horford who finished with 18 points while Jeff Teague had a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists.

The Celtics will be back in action Monday night (7:00, CSNNE) in Charlotte taking on the Bobcats.

What they'll be saying: This was a very encouraging game for the Celtics coming off a tough loss at home Friday night and taking on a tough Hawks team on the road who came in winners of four of their last five. They showed resiliency not giving up after yet another poor third quarter. The visitors shot 46 percent from the field, while holding Atlanta to 39 percent shooting. The Celtics were without rookie Kelly Olynyk who remained in Boston right a right ankle sprain.
