Celtics to face Nets, Knicks over weekend

Coming off two consecutive wins, the Celtics are gearing up for a double-dip with Atlantic Division foes with the first coming Friday against New Jersey (7:30 p.m., CSNNE) and the latter coming Sunday against Jeremy Lin and the suddenly relevant Knicks (1 p.m., ABC).

The storylines this weekend will undoubtedly revolve around point guard Rajon Rondo, who has been brought up in nonstop trade rumors during the past two days.

Celtics boss Danny Ainge dismissed those rumors yesterday during an interview with WEEI.

“Rondo is our best player. He’s the most important piece of our future,” Ainge told The Big Show. “There’s no way that we are actively trying to trade Rondo. That makes no sense.”

Rondo will get plenty of opportunity to silence his critics during the next two games as he faces New Jersey’s Deron Williams and NBA flavor of the month, Lin.
