Cement truck crashes into Bronx home, killing driver

The driver of a cement truck was killed and several people were injured after the vehicle crashed into a Bronx home Monday evening, police said.

The incident occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m.

Police determined that the driver of a 2008 Mack concrete pumping truck was exiting northbound Major Deegan Expressway at 179th Street when he struck multiple cars and then slammed into 1970 Cedar Ave.

The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Five people were injured in the crash and taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, according to the FDNY. Two of them had serious injuries. Three people, including one firefighter, sustained minor injuries.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
