Chef takes hard look at food habits

Are you eating yourself to death? If you’d like to see a dramatic depiction of what high-fat, high-sugar food is doing inside our bodies, watch Jamie Oliver’s Eat to Save Your Life.

The show is a remarkably hard-hitting look at how regular convenience foods like hamburgers, pizza and fried foods are taking years off our lives. Using 18 ordinary British volunteers, renowned foodie Oliver, along with physician Dr. Cath Spencer-Smith, illustrates what the average Western diet does to our bodies.

Each of the 18 volunteers is assessed for weight, height, cholesterol, blood sugar levels, liver function, blood pressure and BMI, and each gets tips designed for them. The one-hour show airs on the Food Network on Sun., June 28 at 7 p.m. ET.
