Asian pop superstar Edison Chen, who fled Hong Kong in disgrace 18 months ago after nude photos of himself with other major celebrities were posted on the Internet, is scheduled to appear in an unusual court hearing in Vancouver today.
Chen, who grew up in Vancouver, is to testify before a Hong Kong judge and lawyers over the next five days.
The hearing is taking place here because Chen, 26, refused to return to Hong Kong to give evidence at the trial of a computer technician who is facing charges of distributing pictures of the actor after he took his laptop in for repairs.
That’s when the explicit photos of him with different women, some identifiable as famous actresses, singers and models, including the celebrity wife of one of Chen’s boyhood friends Nicholas Tse, another pop singer/actor in Asia, appeared online.
Chen himself is not facing charges.
