City Council hears city Wi-Fi parks plan

Today, the City Council will discuss a $10 million, 10-year plan to bring Wi-Fi access to 32 public parks. The city has been trying to equip parks with Wi-Fi for years.

In the latest plan, Time Warner Cable and Cablevision would separately provide access to parks that have yet to be identified.

The city’s Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications spokesman, Nicholas Sbordone, estimated wiring the parks would take two years, but could begin this year.
