City driver charged in road rage case

A man has been charged in a suspected case of road rage after police received complaints about an aggressive driver weaving in and out of traffic during Tuesday’s evening commute.

Police allege the driver was stopped at an intersection near 98 Avenue and 75 Street, but he got out of his SUV and approached another vehicle that was stopped behind him.

A Good Samaritan offering assistance in the incident was allegedly assaulted and knocked to the ground, police said.

Kent Dixon, a spokesman with the Alberta Motor Association, said the alleged attack is a reminder for drivers to stay calm behind the wheel.

Justin Merlin Fortune, 31, is charged with assault causing bodily harm.
