Vancouver’s more than 9,500 municipal employees are generally satisfied with their jobs but have serious reservations about the city’s upper management, a new survey finds.
Presented to city council yesterday, the 67-question poll — which is the first of its kind for Vancouver — revealed a 54 per cent rate of overall satisfaction among the librarians, firefighters, park rangers, office workers and others who make their living as municipal employees, yet only a 27 per cent rate of confidence in city leadership.
The survey had a response rate of 52 per cent and represents part of the city’s ongoing efforts to improve its historically prickly relationship with staff.
