Good news, commuters: Tucked into the tax-cut bill the Senate voted to approve yesterday is something to make your wallet smile.
Starting next year, those who take advantage of pre-tax commuter benefits will still be able to remove up to $230 a month in pre-tax dollars to use for commuting costs. The $230 amount was slated to end on Jan. 1, at which time they’d only be able to take out $120 each month.
That’s welcome news to MTA commuters, who will soon be hit with a fare hike that will raise monthly MetroCards to $104.
