Contest: Name that eel!

Always wished you could help name an electric eel? Us, too! Now’s our chance as The Wildlife Conservation Society’s New York Aquarium is having a naming contest for its newest addition!

The new electric eel lives in the Explore the Shore exhibit where you can see it swimming around and eating shrimp.

According to the Wildlife Conservation Society, electric eels can generate pulses of more than 650 volts to disable prey. That’ more than five times the power of a standard wall socket.

Click here to nominate your moniker of choice, but you might want to stick with unisex names– officials can’t tell if the eel is a male or female.

You be the judge. What do you think the eel should be named?
