Cops hunt vicious park attack suspect

Police yesterday released a sketch of a man suspected to have viciously attacked and mugged a 19-year-old Barnard College student as she jogged in Riverside Park.

The woman, identified in reports as Marisa Cortright, was running near West 120th Street around 6 a.m. Monday when the man slammed her into a wall. The Oregon native was in stable condition at St. Luke’s Hospital where she was treated for bleeding on the brain and a fractured cheek, police said. A passer-by found her fully clothed on a bench. Her iPod was stolen.

Columbia University and Barnard warned students to use caution when using the park in the early morning or after dark. Anyone with information about the mugging can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
