Cops ID accused flasher

Halifax Regional Police have released the name of the man facing numerous charges in relation to an alleged flashing spree. Neil James Wayne MacDonald, a 26-year-old from Halifax, has been charged with seven counts of an indecent act in connection with seven incidents taking place in Halifax between March 21 and 26. He will appear in Halifax provincial court on May 18.

MacDonald was arrested over the weekend after police say another incident of a man exposing himself to a woman took place. Police say the victim complained a man exposed his genitals and committed an indecent act on Friday evening as she was walking on Pepperell and Preston streets near Quinpool Road.

MacDonald was later arrested without incident after the victim gave police a description of the suspect, his car and the vehicle’s licence plate.

The other similar incidents, police say, all took place in south-end Halifax around Dalhousie University on March 21.

Police spokesman Const. Brian Palmeter said initially there were only four reported incidents from that day, but two more women came forward after the news went public.

“We’re comfortable with the charges, but at this point we’re not sure of the motive,” Palmeter said.
