A Boston man is due in court on Monday after he allegedly stole his friend’s car during a night of drinking, hit an ambulance with the car and then headed home.
Boston police said they arrested Terah McIntyre, 31, and charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol, using a motor vehicle without authority and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police said they were called to Lucerne Street and Winston Road in Mattapan just before 6 p.m. Saturday for a report of a car crash. A man there said he and his friend, McIntyre, were drinking together when McIntyre grabbed his car keys and stole his car, according to police.
Officers located the stolen car near McIntyre’s home. They found him there and he appeared to be unsteady on his feet and had glassy eyes, police said. Officers then arrested him.
During their investigation, officers found that McIntyre allegedly hit three cars on his way home, including a parked Boston EMS ambulance. The EMTs said the car hit their rear bumper and refused to stop, police said.
No injuries were reported.
