Countdown clocks instead of refunds for waiting riders?

Refunding fares for T riders who wait more than 30 minutes could be abolished under a plan to bridge the MBTA’s $127 million gap. Refund money would be used on countdown clocks at Red, Orange and Blue Line stations.

“Certainly directing funds to add more countdown signs would be innovative and bring the T more in line with other transit systems,” Stuart Spina of the T Riders Union said. “But you’ll have no consolation for the T’s failing to meet its end of the bargain.”

Refunds are the top entry in the “Customer Bill of Rights,” which is displayed at T headquarters.
