While characteristically silent on exact numbers, promoter Harold MacKay expects around 30,000 people to attend Country Rockfest on the Halifax Commons.
“The site is set up for 30,000 (people), and I think that’s what we’ll probably do,” he said on Thursday.
The two-night festival will feature five bands a night, with doors opening around 1 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
An estimated 25,000 concert goers flooded the Common for last month’s Black Eyed Peas show also put on by MacKay.
Late in that show, a “security issue” necessitated opening up gates to allow an undisclosed amount of non-ticket holders entry to the grounds.
But MacKay said that won’t be happening again.
“They’ll be nothing opened up this time, it’ll be tighter than a drum,” he said, adding he’s hired extra security.
