LONDON (Reuters) – The proportion of contacts of positive COVID-19 reached by England’s test and trace service dropped again to 62.6% in the latest week, well short of a target of 80% of contacts reached, statistics published by the health ministry said.

“As non-complex cases have a higher proportion of contacts who are unable to be reached, this has contributed to the reduction in the overall percentage of contacts who were reached and asked to self-isolate since Test and Trace launched, from 91.1% to 62.6% in the latest week,” the health ministry said.

The weekly statistics showed a 64% increase in cases between Oct 1 and Oct 7, and also an increase in positive results among people tested.
