Q: What is your fondest memory for your family kitchen?

A: I have two. The fondest: was having Superman’s, Christopher Reeve over for dinner. The second is all the philosophizing my father still does while eating.

Q: Who is your favourite cook?

A: My mother, of course. She is the most fantastic cook since she samples from cultures all over the world. She can taste something and replicate it exactly. What a skill!

Q: What is your favourite food to cook?

A: Chicken. It’s easy, healthy and can be made a million different ways.

Q: How did first meal you prepared turn out?

A: Not so great. I got the recipe from a friend of a friend. I should have stuck to a cookbook.

Q: What kitchen gadget couldn’t you live without?

A: My food processor. I hate grating, chopping or cutting.

Chocolate-banana Wontons(Time: 22 min, Serves 6)

The time-honored combination of sugar-sweet bananas and creamy chocolate provide the filling for this mouthwatering dessert.

INGREDIENTS:

  • butter-flavor cooking spray

  • 1 large banana, diced

  • 6 tbsp (90 ml) mini chocolate chips

  • 24 wonton wrappers, half of a 12 oz. (336 g) package

  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) powdered sugar

PROCEDURE:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C). Coat a large baking sheet with cooking spray.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine banana and chocolate chips; mix gently.

  3. Place wonton wrappers on a flat surface. Drop banana mixture by teaspoonfuls onto centre of each wrapper. Moisten edges of wrapper with wet fingers, fold over one corner to make a triangle and press sides together to seal. Transfer filled wrappers to prepared baking sheet and coat surface with cooking spray.

  4. Bake until wontons are golden brown, about 10 to 12 minutes. Sift powdered sugar over wontons before serving.

(Yields 4 wontons per serving.)
