Dinos fighting for teammate

Members of the Dinos women’s hockey team are rallying around one of their teammates as she battles cancer.

Having known Sinead Tracey since a young age, sisters Shannon and Erin Davidson know just how strong their friend and Dinos teammate is. Tracey, 19, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in April, cutting her rookie season with the Dinos short.

“As soon as we heard about Sinead, we all knew that we wanted to do something for her to show her that not only were we behind her but the entire Dinos athletics community was behind her,” said Shannon.

The team is throwing a fundraising and head-shaving event Friday in honour of Tracey, who is currently in remission and itching to get back on the ice.

“Sinead is probably the strongest person I know in every way,” said Erin. “It will be really good to have her back.”

The event begins at 4 p.m. in the McMahon Stadium parking lot, prior to the Dinos football team kicking off at 7 p.m.
