Distill art/fashion gallery moving on up
One of Toronto’s best sources for Canadian fashion and art, Distill, has moved to a larger spot within The Historic Distillery District (Building #47). Expect to find almost double the volume of fab clothing, accessories and jewellery as well as additional display space for original artwork, ceramic pieces and lots more handmade goodies.
Everything in the airy fresh space is handcrafted with most items being one or few of a kind yet still affordable. Whether you’re looking for a memorable gift by a local designer or a hip wearable treat for yourself, stop by and visit the new digs. Warning: shoppers are unlikely to leave empty-handed. Some of FF’s faves include: screenprinted hats by Jenna Rose, quirky Canadiana jewellery from Wine on Sundays, creatively recycled clothing by Susan Harris and swoon-worthy bags from local bag gurus Jack & Marjorie.

Sassy Little Craft Show
Anyone interested in indie crafts showcased in a licensed venue, should pop by the Victory Cafe (581 Markham St.) in the Annex this Saturday night (May 31, 7 to 12 p.m.) for the Sassy Little Craft Show. Shoppers can sip a cocktail, while perusing the cool handcrafted jewellery, bags, craft kits, buttons, saucy soaps, greeting cards and more on offer by a mix of over 15 local indie crafter/designers. Admission is free.
Smart Set
Shoppers keen to freshen up their look to match the gentler temperatures, should scoot over to Smart Set where lots of cute tops, denims, cropped spring jackets and more await frugalistas on the sale racks. FF’s faves: cross-front rayon blouses with fluttery sleeves in tourquoise or plum for just $14.99 each (reg. $34). But: do check out the new arrivals as well, particularly the dresses — most priced under $60. Halter styles, smock dresses, retro prints and strapless frocks that are chic enough to be worn to the office or even a wedding reception.
