Dolphins hardly a pushover for Pats

The Patriots coaching staff had nothing but praise for their Week 1 opponent, Miami, yesterday.

Shocker.

Bill Belichick is known for talking up every foe as just about the greatest team New England has ever faced. He didn’t disappoint on a conference call with the media.

“It looks like Miami has played well in their preseason games,” he said. “They have a lot of weapons on offense. They’re a big, physical defensive team that has good speed and athleticism with their linebackers and defensive backs. [They are] much improved in the kicking game from where they were last year.

“It will be a big challenge for us.”

He might be right.

The Dolphins cruised through the preseason at 3-1, surrendering a total of 53 points — the fewest in the AFC East, and 25 less than the Patriots.

They’re sporting a new offensive coordinator in Brian Daboll, who brings with him an aggressive passing scheme. And, new running back Reggie Bush has the potential to be a game-changer.

“How much they’ll retain from last year, how much they’ll put in new … That’s a big question mark,”?Belichick said.
