Boston’s first ever Bacon & Bourbon Fest at the Castle at Park Plaza arrives March 12 annnddddd — it’s sold out. While this is disappointing (some might say, even devastating), Entercom Boston’s Adam Ralston tell us another one could be just 365-days away.
“Assuming everything goes well next week [at the event], we’re looking at making this an annual event,” he says. “Meaning the next one could come as soon as early March of next year.”
Ralston, who is the director of marketing for the parent company producing Boston’s version of the festival, says the 1,000 general admission and VIP tickets available for the event sold out in less than 30 days, and the hope is the demand for a year two could follow.
Not to taunt you, but just if you were interested — or were lucky enough to score tickets — the concept is this: Guest are issued tickets (10 for GA, 12 for VIP) that can be cashed in at 11 bourbon partners in attendance, ranging from Kentucky’s Basil Hayden’s to good ol’ fashioned Maker’s Mark. Then they can nosh on unlimited bacon small plates made by 16 area restaurants, including Lulu’s in Allston, Mei Mei Street Kitchen and of course, The Bacon Truck.
“One will do a bacon mac and cheese knish and another will do some candied bacon,” adds Ralston. Bacon isn’t the centerpiece of every dish involved, but he confirmed, ”It’s involved.”
The festival is our own iteration of the event that’s already found success in Denver, Portland, Austin and Seattle. Huffington Post even sent a reporter to the Portland version last June, who proclaimed it a holy encounter:“God looked upon four fine cities in the United States, and he saw that they were good, and he bequeathed unto each of them a festival brimming with earthly delights that proved the Garden of Eden truly was a lame party.”
Dang. Well, maybe next year.
