We thought it would remain in the margins of junk food culture forever,
the Loch Ness of fast food dishes. But after a brief appearance in
Toledo, Ohio, the Doritos Locos Taco has surfaced in Fresno and
Bakersfield, California as this rousing commercial illustrates with the
clever tagline, “San Fancis-NO. Sacrament-NO. L.A.? N-O. The only place
to get the Doritos Locos taco is Bakersfield and Fres-YES.”
Zak S. Cowan of The Renegade Rip,
a blog based at Bakersfield College where the new tacos are available,
had this to say in its review of the Supreme version of the product (as
opposed to regular):
“Upon opening the wrapper to the supreme variety of the Locos Taco, I
was finally excited; the taco had sour cream oozed on it. Once I started
eating the taco, I knew that this was the way to go if you wanted a
Doritos-flavored taco. The messiness of the Doritos Locos Taco Supreme
is exactly what a taco should be, and I enjoyed every bite substantially
more than the regular version. I can be certain about one thing after
my whole Locos Taco experience: my regular at Taco Bell isn’t going to
change anytime soon, but I probably will order one of these at least one
more time before they’re gone forever.”
