It was dubbed a 22 Minute Makeover but it lasted a day — and one city alderman hopes it will catch on across the city.
Ald. Joe Ceci and his clean team donned gloves andvests on Thursday for the third year of his annual cleanup in celebration of Earth Day’s 40th anniversary.
“It’s been a great day, I’m not really sure how much litter we picked up but it’s a lot and I think we really made a difference,” Ceci said.
“It was really nice to see so many people helping out and pitching in and having fun doing it.”
Over 100 small and large “clean teams” participated in this year’s event throughout 13 communities and two Business Revitalization zones and industrial areas, including the Mustard Seed.
A variety of community associations, neighbours, families, businesses, agencies and individuals all participated in the initiative.
Ceci finished the day by attending an Earth Day film at the Plaza Theatre in Kensington.
