A 42-year-old woman was raped in Washington Heights early Monday morning. Police say the suspect, a Hispanic man in his 20s, followed the victim into the elevator of her building near West 179th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue around 3 am. He fled the scene and she was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and released.
