I think politicians should stop thinking that getting more funding from the people by increasing the tax is the best way.
I think they should try to see if the spending has been used in an efficient way. And at the same time, examine their salary, benefits and higher-than-average annual salary increase.
We Torontonians have paid higher and more taxes/fees than other cities.
In my experience, project/program budgets are drained so the receiving party doesn’t have to return the unspent amount, and can request the same — or higher — budget the following year. This leads to unplanned, careless purchasing practices.
