Britney Spears has decided to return to TV. While the actress has made a few appearances in the past (she was once on "How I Met Your Mother" as a paramour of Barney's), it's been a few years since her last one. Her latest role? Herself, on an episode of the CW's "Jane the Virgin."
CW head Mark Pedowitz discussed the news at the Television Critics Association press tour Tuesday, saying, "It's one of Britney's favorite shows. We understood that. Jennie [Snyder Urman, showrunner at "Jane"] and the studio went after Britney once they heard this was one of her favorite shows of all time. To their credit and to Britney's credit, she decided that she would come and do it."

Though additional details are still scarce (we don't know when the episode will air, for instance), we did learn a little more about her role. Not only is there a fictional "Britney Spears" in the "Jane" universe, but she is a nemesis of Jane's father, Rogelio. Within the show, he's a very famous telenovela star, so it seems logical that he'd have an equally famous nemesis.
Excited to see Spears on TV again? How long before they have her say, "It's Britney, bitch"?
