Aladdin on Netflix

In the past few years, Disney hit their stride with live-action remakes of their animated classics. It all started with the 2015 remake of Cindrella, starring Cate Blanchett and Lily James. With half-a-billion box office revenue, it was a success. Beauty and the Beast is Disney’s most recent hit, gaining a billion dollars in ticket sales. This trend will not be stopping for the foreseeable future with live-action remakes of Dumbo, The Lion King and Lady and the Tramp in the works. But most importantly, our favorite street rat with a heart of gold is coming to theaters in May. Disney recently dropped a new sneak peak of Aladdin with a CGI Genie played by Will Smith (kinda creepy, TBH). It gave us serious nostalgia for the 1992 Disney original. So, how can we watch it? What is Aladdin about?

Aladdin was the street rat of our dreams. The movie is about how the lovable con-artist is tricked into retrieving a magic lamp for the evil Jafar. Aladdin discovers that this lamp is home to a magic Genie who will grant him three wishes. After falling for Princess Jasmine, the daughter of the Sultan of Agrabah, Aladdin uses his wish to become worthy of the princess. With help from Genie, his pet monkey, Abu and a magic carpet, Aladdin becomes a prince to win Jasmine’s love. But will the truth ruin everything or will Prince Ali be able to show Jasmine a whole new world?

Is Aladdin on Netflix?

So now that you are up to speed on Aladdin, we must answer the titular question. Is Aladdin on Netflix? Unfortunately, no. In fact, Aladdin is in the Disney vault. If you haven’t heard of the term before, this is when Disney puts a movie’s digital release on hold. This means that Aladdin will not be available on any online platform, free or otherwise. Until recently, The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast were in the Disney vault, but we suspect they’ll be released after their live-action remakes. If you crave that Disney nostalgia, you might have to wait until Disney releases the movie from the vault, or until their new streaming service drops. Dang it, Disney!
