Update: Both Zayn Malik and his former One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson have kind of commented on the spat they had on Wednesday.
Malik tweeted “Don't know why I'm being attacked for defending myself , people got it twisted! I love my fans ?! Every single one of you x”
Similarly Tomlinson tweeted “Our fans support really has been a different class ! Huge love to you guys !!”
Womp womp. Sounds like a whole lot of nothing!
PREVIOUSLY: Like many fans, we’ve been impressed with how smoothly the One Direction split seemed to be going — Zayn Malik and the rest of the boys all said and did the right things and actually seemed quite mature for their ages.
Until today, that is.
Twitter blew up on Wednesday as Malik, his producer Naughty Boy, and One Directioner Louis Tomlinson began trading veiled and not-so-veiled tweets about Malik’s split from the superstar band in March.
It all began when Naughty Boy, Zayn Malik’s producer tweeted what appeared to be a Mac Photobooth picture of himself and Zayn Malik with the text “Replace this.”
Tomlinson tweeted a vague tweet several hours later saying “Remember when you were 12 and you used to think those Mac filters for your pictures were cool haha ! Some people still do HA!”
This tweet may or may not have been directed at Naughty Boy, but Malik certainly perceived it to be as he later tweeted directly at Tomlinson saying “remember when you had a life and stopped making bitchy comments about mine?”
We’re sure that for One Direction fans this feels a lot like watching your parents fight. Parents that you find cute?
This is a developing story, so you can bet we’ll keep you updated when news comes in.
